Yes, it’s that time again! FALL HOUSE BAND AUDITIONS will be held on September 25th from 12-2 at the San Diego School of Rock. Here are the audition guidelines:
Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in both a lesson and show with School of Rock. Must have completed at least 1 season show.
Length of season: The Fall/Winter HB will run from October through February
Good candidates should:
-Be a positive mentor within their local school and community
-Act as an advocate for School of Rock
-Have exceptional technical and theoretical command of their primary instrument
-Exhibit strong leadership skills
-Be able to instantly transpose keys/feels and adapt to arrangement changes as necessary
-Be self-motivated to sing back ups and play percussion
-Know how to mix themselves to create a great stage sound
-Be open-minded and able to play all styles of music
-Be able to take direction and check their ego at the door
-Be a team player
Students will be evaluated on the following:
- ● Command of Primary Instrument 
- ● Accuracy 
- ● Tone 
- ● Stage Presence 
- ● Feel 
- ● Knowledge of Theory 
Students are to perform each of the following:
- ● Classic Rock Song: Perform one minute of a song by Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Led - Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath, Janis Joplin, Queen, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, or Jimi Hendrix. - ○ NO backing bands or accompanying players (self-accompaniment is okay) 
- ○ Backing tracks are allowed for this portion of the audition 
- ○ Vocalist’s backing track must be a karaoke version 
 
- ● Solo Piece: Select a song that showcases the student’s talent (Approximately 1 minute) - ○ NO backing bands or accompanying players (self-accompaniment is okay) 
- ○ NO backing tracks allowed for this portion of the audition 
 
- ● Music Theory/Improv: Student will be asked to demonstrate musical knowledge through basic music theory or improv questions.
